The cover of the 2009 Edition of The Directory, our Ka'u Business and Community Resource Guide, features a painting titled "Punalu`u Pond " by Deedee Bodine.

About the Artist: As a chef for 30 years, Bodine said she enjoyed being artistic with her culinary creations, but was too busy to paint on canvas. Now, at her Ocean View home, she has found the time to take up acrylic and oil painting. She belongs to a 'hui' of senior women artists who meet each week and paint at places in Ka'u. She worked on the winning Punalu'u painting for about three months. "Punalu'u is a wonderful place to paint - just to be there", she said.

The Directory 2009 is widely available and can be picked up for free at merchants throughout Ocean View, Na'alehu, Pahala and Volcano.
